WA-5-IT: A Unit That Converts TS over IP to TS

The WA-5-IT is a unit that converts TS over IP into TS.
It features a fanless design, and SPI output is also supported as an option.

IP Transmission Solution

By combining the WA-5-TI, which converts TS into TS over IP, with the WA-5-IT, which converts TS over IP back into TS, you can implement IP-based transmission of TS signals.

For Networks with Unstable Bandwidth

By placing a buffer PC (HDD-less) after the WA-5-TI and before the WA-5-IT, it is possible to buffer the stream and maintain stable transmission even on networks with unstable bandwidth

Specifications

Product TypeTS over IP → MPEG-2 TS Conversion Unit
Product NameTS CaPID WA-5-IT
Model NumberWA5-A010S000HR
Input / OutputTSoIP InputRJ45 (100BASE-TX) ×1 (TSoIP port)
Receives the IP-converted TS data over LAN
TS OutputDVB-ASI ×1 (ASI OUT connector)
DVB-SPI ×1 (SPI OUT connector) — option (※1)
ControlConfiguration LAN port: RJ45 (100BASE-T) ×1 (CTRL port)
Configuration COM port: RS-232C ×1 (front panel) (※2)
Reception MethodReceives TS data transmitted over LAN from a WA-5-TI and converts it back into TS data for output
Supports multicast reception, allowing one-to-many transmission (IGMPv3)
NULL Packet RestorationRestores the NULL packets compressed by the WA-5-TI to reproduce the original TS
Packet Loss CountermeasureDetected IP packet loss is recovered by ARQ (retransmission request) using a proprietary protocol.
If ARQ processing cannot recover the loss in time, a dummy TS packet with the transport error indicator set is output.
Transferable
TS Bit Rate
204-byte TS packets: 7 TS packets per IP packet → up to 33 Mbps, 6 → up to 28 Mbps, 5 → up to 23 Mbps, 4 → up to 20 Mbps
188-byte TS packets: 7 TS packets per IP packet → up to 30 Mbps, 6 → up to 25 Mbps, 5 → up to 21 Mbps, 4 → up to 18 Mbps
These are upper limits. The TS bit rate that can be input varies with the configuration.
Front Display (STATUS)Shows the IP packet transfer bit rate.
With a decimal point (dot) the unit is Mbps (e.g. 32.5 = 32.5 Mbps); without one it is Kbps (e.g. 325 = 325 Kbps)
・Normal: the dot at the lower right of the display blinks
・While dummy TS packets are output due to packet loss, or on reset: the bit rate reading blinks
・On disconnection: the bit rate reading disappears and the lower-right dot stops blinking

(※1) The WA-5-IT has no ASI IN connector. The rear panel carries the same silkscreen as the WA-5-TI, but on the WA-5-IT the connector used is ASI OUT. The SPI connector (SPI OUT) is an option.
(※2) With the serial communication option (license), the front COM port can carry RS-232C serial communication over the LAN in both directions. The connection to the WA-5-TI uses TCP/IP. Without the option, the COM port is used to configure the WA-5-IT.
